Grace Finds Beauty In Everything

Posted on 17:55 by Unknown

It's a sad day for us around here. Early this afternoon, we said our final goodbyes to our dog, Grace.

I won't go into the long story. Sufficed to say, we've known this was coming for a long time. She was 14 or 15 in human years. Which is something like 100 for a dog.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the last few years...

We named her Grace because dogs really do show us something of True Grace.

As if to put a fine point on it, there's this, sent to me by David Elliott just a while ago...

"Grace finds beauty in everything.
Grace finds goodness in everything."

I like Bono's quote from the interview at the end, too.

"I'm holding out for grace..."

Yep. Me too.

It's Still a Purpleland

Posted on 07:00 by Unknown

I wrote the song below after the 2004 election.
Partisan tensions run high this time of the election cycle, so it's probably a decent time to pull it off the shelf.

Whoever wins, and whoever loses, the chorus is still true.

"Purpleland" by Eric Folkerth

Well, I called my friend up at NYU
And she said, "Me and my whole state are blue,
We're dazed, we're down, the don't know what do,
Surrounded by the sea of Red."

But I told her…
We all live in a Purpleland
Every woman, child, and man
So don't get too proud and don't misunderstand
Cause this great nation is just one big Purpleland.

Now my Texas home is almost solid red
And some folks I know, that goes too their head
They say, "Those blue states, they're as good as dead,"
But I say "Not so, not so fast."

We all live in a Purpleland
Every woman, child, and man
So don't get too proud and don't misunderstand
Cause this great nation is just one big Purpleland.

Now those red and blue maps, lie subtly
Draw in primary colors
'Cause the truth is always shaded differently
And it's never just one or the other.

We all live in a Purpleland
Every woman, child, and man
So don't get too proud and don't misunderstand
Cause this great nation is just one big Purpleland.

(an older demo....be patient with the quick and dirty production...)
